How Can We Know the Truth? (Pt 1)

2 Chronicles 18:1-4

Pilate asked Jesus, “What is the truth?” Jesus is the truth (John 14:6). And He came to earth to testify to the truth.

Knowing Jesus is all the truth you need.

The truth becomes foundational to your own soul. It brings joy to your own heart and you want to share it with others.

King Jehoshaphat was generally a good king, but he doesn’t do things right all the time.

2 Chronicles 17:3–King Jehoshaphat was blessed by God. He was supposed to ally himself with God.

Yet now King Jehoshaphat seeks an alliance with King Ahab, who was not a godly king.

Everybody believes in something.

People say there are many roads to heaven, but we know there is only one way.

When King Ahab proposes they join together, King Jehoshaphat wanted to seek the counsel of the Lord first. We should do the same.

When you have a decision to make, go to God.

Everybody goes somewhere for wisdom. Don’t rely on worldly wisdom; rely on God’s.

Godly wisdom doesn’t not come automatically; it takes years of watching, listening, and praying.

Some people, like Ahab, have a godless agenda, or they seek to go against them.

Our temptation today is to listen to the wrong people.
