We Are a Christian Community (Pt 1)

Exodus 16:1-4

People are watching you. Some are waiting for you to mess up so they don’t have to listen to you about Jesus.

In their minds, when one of us mess up, we’ve all messed up.

People are rejecting what they think is true about the gospel. We want them to understand the true gospel.

We are a Christian community. We’re in this together, and we want to live in a way that honors God.

Exodus 16:1-4–It doesn’t make sense how they are grumbling about God. He set them free from slavery. They think God sent them to the desert to kill them.

They were hungry. They started doubting God.

When God brings you “this far,” you know He’s going to take you the rest of the way.

God says He will make bread from heaven. Manna means “What is it?”

“Loon” = complain, grumble, murmur

In reality, the murmuring probably started with a few people, and as they murmured behind the scenes, it spread through the community.

Murmuring can wreck your Christian walk–and that of others.

They could have gone directly to Moses about the problem instead of murmuring.

Grumbling affects the whole body of the church, spreading like a wildfire.

We should want to be a blessing to the body of Christ, not a detriment.

Murmuring never ends well.

If we see or have a problem, we should go to the person involved.

Will murmuring help us spread the gospel? Will it help us love each other more?
