2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Last week: We don’t judge people superficially as to whether they are good or bad, but we see them with eyes of faith.
We see the glory of God when we see the change in people after they come to Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17–A spiritual change take place in us. We have a new nature, new power, new power that we didn’t have before.
We were spiritually dead, but now we are spiritually alive (Ephesians 2).
We still have the old nature. It’s why we still want to do the wrong thing sometimes. Yet the new nature wants to serve God and obey. You have to decide who to listen to.
The more we say yes to the new nature, to the Holy Spirit, to God, the more the power of the old man starts to wane.
We have a new trust, new outlook, new way of looking at things.
We are being transformed into who Christ wants us to be. We start to become like Him in our character.
2 Corinthians 5:18–We don’t get the credit for the change. God does.
God reconciled us to Himself. While we were still His enemies, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
God is the one who had to save us. We become ones who bring others into the fold, too. We share the ministry of reconciliation.
Don’t give in to cynicism. See all people as save-able. We know what the Lord Almighty can do in their lives.
Sometimes our attitudes get the best of us.
Our job isn’t to save anybody, but to tell them about Jesus. He is the one who can save them.
Let your light shine. Be faithful. Display Jesus to those around you.
