Seek After God’s Glory (Pt 2)

Sunday, June 8, 2025 | Pastor Rob Vance

What are you seeking after? What do you stand for? This week and next, we look at the story of David bringing the Ark of the Covenant back after it had been neglected, and how it encourages us to seek after God’s glory, not our own.

1 Chronicles 13:1-14

David led the right way; he gathered a consensus and stayed grounded in the Word.

In leadership, we should be like David.

Uzzah is struck dead.

When God says something, He means it.

The Ark was an emblem of how holy God is.

1 Kings 8:27–Solomon knew that God could not be contained.

This was a festive but serious time.

Uzzah died because God said only the Levitical priests could touch the Ark.

The earthly temple was symbolic of the actual heavenly temple.

Jesus is the ultimate priest.

The Ark was supposed to be moved on poles by the Levitical priests, not on a cart.

Worship is about your heart.

What areas of your life are you frivolous about?

Worship is important; do it the way God commands.

1 John 4:23–Our worship draws others in.

David was angry because Uzzah died.

We have to trust that God knows best.

David gave the Ark to a Levite, who was blessed because of it.

David went to retrieve the Ark later.

If you’re mad at God, keep pressing on and realize that it’s wrong.

You may not understand Him right away, but you stick with Him.
