This Easter Sunday, we look at two precious promises from God about sin and death. You can receive these promises, too, by trusting in the Lord Jesus for salvation.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
Promise #1: Our sins don’t have to be fatal.
If we believe, we will be forgiven.
Imputation = when Jesus was on the cross, God treated Him like He lived our life as a sinner so that we can live like the life He lived when He was here.
Sin brings death; it’s why we have funerals.
Promise #2: Our deaths are not final.
Isaiah 53–prophecy of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Jesus appeared to Peter, the 12 disciples, 500 followers, James, the apostles, and finally Paul.
The Swoon Theory suggests that Jesus was only passed out in the tomb; we know this is not true.
Death comes to us all, but we can escape it through Jesus’ resurrection.
Jesus removes the sting from death.
“This life is only the title page of our story of eternity.” (C.S. Lewis)
Those who are born in the flesh will die, but those who are born in the spirit will never die.
When we are born again, we turn from our sin.
