Do you want to hear from God? He wants to speak to you! Let’s see what the story of Samuel has to teach us about hearing God’s voice.
1 Samuel 3
We CAN hear from God and He wants us to hear Him.
Exodus 27:20-21–The lamps are to burn continuously (Eli was sleeping in the tabernacle).
When you can’t hear God, are you listening in the right places?
Be smart enough to listen to wise advice.
Pray for wisdom every day.
“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” This is something we can pray each day.
Samuel didn’t want to tell Eli the news because he cared (v. 15).
If God trusts you with much, then much is expected of you.
If you feel like God is silent in your life, that is troubling. Has He rejected your ways? Maybe the answer is no? Maybe we are wrong and should repent?
God has more wisdom than we do.
We don’t want the Lord to have anything against us.
We do love Him; we just have trouble obeying sometimes.
We need more fear of the Lord today.
Psalm 111:10–The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Fearing God means you care more about God’s opinion than your own or others’.
We get prophetic words through Scripture or life circumstances.
Don’t ever think that you can outthink God.
Don’t have joy when delivering bad news.
If you sin, own up to it like Eli did.
