1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

We can encourage and comfort one another with the truth that Jesus is coming back and we (along with all the saints) will be raised together with Him.

Paul wrote this letter after hearing about the despair Thessalonica was feeling.

The rapture is certain for all saints–dead or alive.

Three reasons we can be sure of this:

1. The Lord’s Resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:13)

John 11:11–sleep = death (temporary)

Don’t grieve like those with no hope.

We will rise from death like Jesus did; He is the head and we are the body.

1 John 3:2-3–Strive for purity through the Holy Spirit.

2. The Lord’s Revelation (1 Thessalonians 4:15-16)

1 Corinthians 15:52–We shall be transformed with a new body.

The dead will rise first, then the living saints.

Purify your thoughts and behavior in preparation for His imminent return.

3. The Lord’s Return (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

1 Thessalonians 1:10–We are rescued from the wrath to come.

Jesus will come back and we will be caught up with Him.

Comfort one another.

Ask God for joyful anticipation.

You are the only Bible some people will ever read.
