Singing in the Dark

Psalm 137:1-9

Dopamine–natural drug the body produces when we feel joy.

Certain things create dopamine in our lives; it gives us energy and joy.

Music has the ability to change our mood.

God gave us dopamine to help us feel good (physical component).

We also have the Holy Spirit (spiritual side).

586 BC–Babylonians took the Israelites captive. They lost their culture.

Satan has turned the heat up; our culture is weird, the weather is off, the political scene is twisted.

Satan is trying to silence Christians, hoping we succumb to the world’s corruption.

This is not a time for the church to give up; do not accept defeat.

Can we still lift our voice even when things are tough?

Suffering is the resistance to promise.

Praise and worship is code. It’s rebellion to Satan’s schemes, saying, “I’m not living that way.”

Paul and Silas sing in jail; they refused to accept their prison.

God is not moved by our tears, but He is moved by our faith.

Lock the door to grief and make the decision to praise God anyway.
