The Road to Emmaus

Luke 24:13-32

Luke is the only gospel writer that includes the walk to Emmaus.

It takes place after the resurrection and is full of various emotions.

This was a journey of doubt, but Jesus stayed with them and walked with them.

Jesus has not abandoned you and will walk with you through whatever you are facing.

The tomb alone is not enough evidence to prove the resurrection. The final persuasion was the Jesus appeared alive to many people.

We all have a road to Emmaus at times–sin, doubt, life situations.

This road can be lonely, dark, and scary, but it doesn’t last forever.

Jesus will meet you on your road to Emmaus.

He WILL show up, but we must invite Him in.

Our tactic should be to show up and love people the way Jesus did–stop fighting and arguing about everything (politics, etc.).

“We are all looking to God for our destination, but He is in the journey.”

He loves to step in and reframe our story, to cause us to look at things differently and with new light.

God is a photo bomber–He is there, but we don’t always feel/see Him until later.

He isn’t as concerned with us having the answers but rather with knowing Him.

God wants us to tell others our story.
