John 12:32
The Bible was written for redemption.
From Genesis to Revelation, the cross is the key.
It’s all about Jesus’ death.
The cross can be hard to look at because it points out our sin, shame, and guilt.
Jesus was a bloody mess and completely unrecognizable for the sake of our purification.
He could have abandoned us to our fate in hell, but He didn’t.
What is it that brings you here today? The cross! He drew you here because of the cross.
The cross has the power to set us free.
Romans 3:9-12 — All have sinned.
Sin causes guilt, which causes mental anguish, and people look for ways to combat that (therapy, antidepressants, etc.).
Only the cross can remove our guilt and sin.
1 Peter 2:24 — He bore our sins in His body.
He transfers our sin to Himself and we are acquitted.
Romans 8:1 — There is now no condemnation.
What does the cross really do for us? It should lead us to deeper repentance.
We should grieve over our sin. We should hate sin and what it does to us.
We should have a deeper desire for His will to be done.
We should desire to expand the Kingdom.
The cross should remind us that we are loved.
There’s no one who can love you more than Jesus.
