The Presence of God

Exodus 13:20-22 — God offered guidance.

Exodus 14:19-20, 24 — God offered protection.

Exodus 33 — The pillar would hover when Moses met with God.

The Israelites had a reputation for having God dwelling among them; the nearby societies knew it.

The pillar guided the Israelites for 40 years.

God is still guiding us to move, stay, or make a change in our lives.

Deuteronomy 1:33 — God took them to the best places to camp.

His presence meant safety.

Psalm 91:2 — He is my refuge.

Psalm 121:5 — The Lord watches over you.

Psalm 105:39 — He lit the darkness for the Israelites.

He guides us along the right path; He is a place of refuge; He hovers over us in safety and protection.

Requirements for the Israelites: they had to be unattached and they had to wait for God’s leading; they also had to pay attention.

Psalm 27 — David just wanted to be home with God.

Psalm 84:10 — Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere.

Exodus 33:15-16 — Moses did not want to go without God.

The promised land is not the goal. God is the goal.

Psalm 63:1 — God, you are my God. I want to be near you.
