Psalm 51:1-4
Sin is what drives our worship.
Sin cuts off our fellowship with God.
David is in despair a year after his affair with Bathsheba; he is miserable.
Sin robs us of our peace.
David takes personal responsibility for his sin.
When we sin, we are affecting others; we are anti-God.
David had all three kinds of sin: transgressions, iniquities, and sins.
All sin is turning away from God.
It is important that we confess our sins and restore that relationship daily.
Name the sin in prayer so we can be held accountable.
Steps to tackling sin: confess the sin, name the sin, turn away from the sin, turn to Christ.
When we confess, God puts it behind Him.
Sin dishonors God.
David wants all of God’s compassion and tender mercies in response to his sin.
Exodus 32:30-33–There is a book of life and we hope to be listed there.
We need to treat sin seriously.
