Genesis 19:15-38
When worldliness seeps in:
1. Intimacy falls away
2. Generosity slips away – time, gifts
3. Compromised morals
4. No spiritual influence
5. Reluctant to give up our sin
6. Leads to materialism
7. Lack of fear of God
8. Transfers to the children
Matthew 5:29-30–Cut out sin in your life.
Luke 17:28-33–When Jesus returns, it will be like when Lot fled; don’t look back.
Matthew 6:31-34–Seek God first.
Matthew 6:19–Do not store up treasures here on earth.
1 Corinthians 7:29-31–Do not get attached to things; they are not yours to keep.
Genesis 19:15-17–They did not heed the angels’ warnings.
God is a God of wrath as well as a God of love.
The consequences are great when not following Christ.
Genesis 19:30-38–Worldly parents produce worldly children.
Lot’s daughters did not trust God’s plan for their lives.
Exodus 20:5-6–A father’s sin transfers to the third and fourth generation.
In 2 Peter, God still called Lot righteous (by grace).
God wipes away all the things we have done wrong, thanks to Jesus.
