1 Peter 2:11 (NIV)

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.

We are aliens and sojourners.

1 John 2:15 — Do not love the world or anything in the world.

1 Corinthians 3:2-3 — We are controlled by our sinful desires.

Genesis 13:5 — Abraham is a friend of God and Lot is a friend of the world.

2 Peter 2:7-8 — Lot was a good man, but was influenced by the evil people near him.

Genesis 13:10-12 — Lot chose the land that looked more attractive and focused on himself.

Genesis 14:12 — Invaders captured him and all his possessions.

Genesis 19:1 — Lot is at the city gate and is involved in money, politics, and opportunity.

When you are worldly, your intimacy with God disappears.

Genesis 18:1-7 — The angels stay with Abraham.

Genesis 19:2-4 — Lot insisted the men stay.

Genesis 18:22 — The Lord stayed with Abraham (intimacy with God).

Lot had Sodom in his heart; he lived a compromised Christian life.
